Among the clubs linked to the 31-year-old French midfielder is Olympique de Marseille, sparking speculation about a potential return to France. Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi has now addressed these rumours.
Marseille manager addresses Pogba links
Following Marseille’s victory over RC Lens on Saturday, De Zerbi was asked about the possibility of Pogba joining his side.
The Italian coach acknowledged Pogba’s talent but downplayed the rumours, telling BeIn Sports, “I like strong players, but there is nothing for now,” and leaving the door slightly ajar for future developments.
The midfielder’s availability has turned heads across Europe. After his contract with Juventus was terminated by mutual consent, Pogba is free to negotiate with any club.
While he has publicly expressed a desire to remain in Europe and play in one of the top five leagues, concrete discussions with any club, including Marseille, have yet to materialise.
Pogba’s path back to football
Pogba’s doping suspension, which has already cost him more than a year of his career, will keep him sidelined until March 2025.
Despite the setback, he has made it clear that he intends to return to top-flight football, even expressing willingness to take a pay cut to stay at Juventus before his eventual departure from the club in November.
The speculation linking Pogba to Marseille gained momentum thanks to former Juventus teammate Patrice Evra, who has publicly advocated for Pogba’s move back to France.
With Pogba eager to prove himself once his ban ends, Marseille could offer an intriguing opportunity, though the club has yet to make a formal approach.
In addition to Marseille, Pogba has also been linked to a move to the MLS or the Saudi Pro League, although he is more likely to seek opportunities with clubs playing in the top UEFA competitions.
