Top bosses at the Uganda Police Force have backed the institution’s football club, Police FC, to return to the top-flight Uganda Premier League as the season unwinds.

The 2005 Uganda Premier League champions are fighting for promotion after a season in the Big League, the second-tier league.

Police Chief Tom Magambo, also Director of Criminal Investigations, has urged the team to fight hard in the remaining matches to earn promotion.

“You can do it. We shall accord you all the necessary support to make sure the club is back in the major league (UPL). So just be firm and determined”, Magambo told the players.

The Cops suffered relegation following a disastrous season last year and amassed only 28 points from 29 games.

They were dumped out on the home ground by high-flying BUL FC at MTN Philip Omondi Stadium, Naguru, as the Uganda Cup champions registered a resounding 5-2 victory.

Back to drawing the board, Police FC now stand an excellent chance to earn a promotion.

They are fourth in the FUFA Big League table standings with 47 points from 26 matches.

Kitara FC leads the table with 52 points but with a game more. Mbarara City and NEC have 51 points.

He also promised to mobilize key stakeholders to partner with the club.
