Otanga is a proven goal scorer having impressed while at Sony Sugar and KCB FC.

The marquee signings at Kenya Police FC show no signs of abating after they confirmed the signing of the 2021-2022 Golden Boot winner Derrick Otanga.

The former Sony Sugar FC forward will bolster the already impressive Police forward line after being linked with the club for a majority of the mid-season transfer window.

Police finally confirmed the worst-kept secret after roping in Otanga and look to throw him straight into action ahead of their clash against Nzoia Sugar on Thursday.

“Last season's top scorer Derrick Otanga is the newest officer in town. Otanga has come a time when we want grade one Nzoia Sugar and nothing less,” read a statement from the club.

Otanga joined the club on the Bosman rule after parting ways with Libyan side Al-Ittihad Misrata SC following a disastrous stint with the club.

The former Wazito FC forward joined Al-Ittihad on a one-year deal after turning down advances from Bandari and AS Kigali of Rwanda but featured sparingly for the side.

The 26-year-old lit up the 2021-2022 season after finishing as the top-scorer with 16 goals for KCB FC but failed to renew his contract with the Bankers.

Otanga will compete for places with David Simiyu, Elvis Rupia who is the league’s second-top scorer with 13 goals, and Clinton Kinanga.

Police will hope that Otanga will fire them to the 2022-2023 title after also signing the experienced Abud Omar and have also been linked with Tusker FC custodian Patrick Matasi.

The Law Enforcers have been rumored to have released James Kibande, John 'Softie' Ndirangu, Cornelius Juma, Faustine Ojiambo, and David Otieno to ease their bloated squad.
