Police ascended to the summit of the betPawa Big League after a 3-1 win over Ndejje University on Thursday at the Kavumba Recreation Centre.

The Cops started the match with fire and could have grabbed the lead through Brian Obedi but the striker reached late to convert Duncan Sseninde’s pass.

Obedi, however, was not to be denied in the 6th minute after starting a move in the centre that snaked through Sseninde and then Raymond Onyai on the right.

The attacker darted into the danger zone and curled a low cross which Obedi met with a thunderous strike into the far post.

Tony Kiwalazi delivered an inviting freekick in the 15th minute which Kalanzi headed over but it was flipped over by the keeper for a corner.

Onyai received the corner unmarked just outside the box, hit it hard and again, the burly keeper stretched to punch it away into safety and kept the score decent until halftime.

Former Ndejje University and a student at their campus Isaac Ogwang doubled the lead shortly after the hour.

The striker dribbled past his marker Abdallah Mwiima in the left wing, cut inside the box, set himself and delivered a powereful shot from the outside of his foot to the net.

Ndejje fought back and grabbed a consolation with ten minutes left through Enock Omatiira’s stunning effort that caught Mutebi flat-footed.

The goal meant that Police lost their shs. 1 million team bonus for a clean sheet.

Emmanuel Mugume sealed the victory in the last minute off added time after finishing of Reagan Male’s cross.

The result takes Police to the top of the table with nine points as Ndejje plunge further into the bottom of the table with no point.
