Posta Rangers coach John Kamau has explained what is costing his team crucial points after winning just one of their last five games, having started the season like a house on fire
Posta Rangers coach John Kamau has blamed his side’s recent poor run of form on fatigue and a thin squad after his team recorded a third straight draw following a 1-1 stalemate with AFC Leopards on Saturday.
Posta have been the early pace setters in the FKF Premier League after storming to the top of the table against all odds but have seen their momentum slowed somewhat.
After winning five straight games between September and October, Posta Rangers have managed just one victory in their last five games, suffering their first defeat of the season, before a run of three straight draws, including Saturday’s tie at Ulinzi Complex.

The dropped points have seen Posta Rangers just hang onto their lead, largely helped by Gor Mahia’s own spell of draws, three in the last five matches, but Kamau is staying positive.
“We have several tactics we can deploy in a game. Like today, once the opponent got the early goal, they were very compact but always there are solutions and we brought in [Brian] Marita and got the goal that we were looking for,” said Kamau after watching Brian Marita cancel out Kayci Odhiambo’s first-minute goal for AFC Leopards on Saturday.
“We had several opportunities that we should have buried, we were also playing with a makeshift defence because both of my regular centre-backs were not in the field of play and I will be content with what I got.”

When Gor Mahia lost the title on the final day: 11 years since one of the most painful moments in K’Ogalo’s history
Gor Mahia fans are marking 11 years since they suffered one of the crushing moments when K’Ogalo failed to clinch the title on the final day, having been favourites all season
Posta Rangers’ poor run have seen them fail to put daylight between them and the chasing pack as they lead the table with 22 points, one ahead of both Gor Mahia and Murang’a Seal, with KCB and Bandari not far off with 19 each.
While he is unfazed by the teams breathing down their neck, Kamau believes having a thin squad has started to cost his team points even when only 11 matches have been played.
“After eight, nine games, we expect a lot of tired legs and I think the depth is not good but we will bounce back,” he added.

FOOTBALL Shabana FC: Five potential candidates to replace sacked coach Sammy Okoth
Shabana FC are in the hunt for a new coach following the sacking of Sammy Okoth but who are the men they can turn to following their poor run of form?
“We are only concerned with what we are doing which we are happy with. It is not about others, we have our own destiny, so we will let others focus on that.”
Kamau will be delighted with the impending two-week international break as it will give his ‘tired’ players and opportunity to rest before they take on struggling Shabana on November 25.
