Posta Rangers maintained the league lead despite challenging pitch conditions, securing a strategic draw against Kakamega Homeboyz in the Premier League.

Posta Rangers head coach John Kamau has expressed his dissatisfaction with the pitch conditions at Bukhungu Stadium following a challenging 1-1 draw against Kakamega Homeboyz in a league encounter played on Thursday.

Despite adverse weather affecting the gameplay, Posta managed to secure a point to maintain their lead at the top of the league standings.

Rising star Moses Shummah opened the scoring early for Homeboyz with a swift goal at the seventh-minute mark.

However, Posta leveled the playing field when Bernard Ondiek's header found the back of the net in the 30th minute.

This draw nudged Rangers just a point clear of their closest rivals, Gor Mahia, who sits snugly in second place.

Speaking to the media, Kamau reflected on the conditions and the performance of his side.

"The conditions were unbearable; the pitch was waterlogged, yet I think we put on a good show. We had to play a different kind of ball game than we're used to because of the water on the pitch. With one point, we're in a position to plan. I love the spirit of my boys," he said.

Gor Mahia, on the heels of the league leaders, secured their spot just one point behind after a tight victory over Shabana with a 1-0 scoreline the previous day.

As the race tightens, the Premier League's fresh entrants, Murang’a Seal, continue to impress, claiming the third spot with 17 points after a stellar start to their life in topflight football.

Kakamega Homeboyz, meanwhile, find themselves in the 10th position with a tally of 12 points.

Looking ahead, the Posta are preparing for their next challenge against KCB at Kasarani Annex in what promises to be a thrilling round 10 of action.

Posta, under the stewardship of Kamau, will aim to extend their lead and continue their impressive form as they fight to solidify their place at the summit of the league.

On the other side, Homeboyz, guided by Patrick Odhiambo, will be hitting the road to face Muhoroni in their next game on Sunday.
