Kawinzi has expressed satisfaction with his side's performance after they held KCB to a 0-0 draw on Saturday.

Posta Rangers interim coach Bernard Kawinzi has expressed satisfaction with his team's performance after securing a 0-0 draw against FKF Cup finalists KCB at the Police Sacco Stadium on Saturday.

The match, which saw limited opportunities for either team, ended with KCB remaining in 11th place on 41 points while Posta Rangers sit in eighth with 47. Both teams have struggled in the second half of the season after strong starts.

Speaking to Pulse Sports after the match, Kawinzi highlighted the significance of the draw against a KCB side that has been in good form, including a 4-2 victory over Gor Mahia in a friendly during the international break.

“Our results have not been good. If you contrast KCB, who are in the final of the FKF Cup, their morale and form recently have been good. Usually, you have to follow up on friendlies," Kawinzi stated.

"They even played Gor Mahia during the international break and won. As a coach, you have to do your research. The fact that we held them to a draw shows we did a good job."

Kawinzi acknowledged that while his team created several chances and controlled the game, they lacked the finishing touch needed to secure a win. He emphasised the need to improve their sharpness in front of goal.

“We created a lot of chances and controlled the game, but we lacked that finishing touch. Our strikers were not sharp enough. They have been doing well in training but not scoring. We need to go back to the drawing board and find out what we did badly, and I believe we will be in a much stronger position next time,” Kawinzi added.

Caleb Olilo, the captain for the day, received praise for his performance on the left wing. He effectively carried the ball and challenged KCB's fullback, Kevin Okumu, making life difficult for the Bankers.

“He played by the book. Both sides have been carrying the ball forward and committing to the opponents, which was the preparation for the week. KCB’s wingers are also dangerous. We had to make sure that our own wingers took them on so they would be forced into defending better,” Kawinzi noted.

Looking ahead, Posta Rangers will face Tusker in their next league match on Wednesday.
