Premier League: 5 reasons why Arsenal will beat Man City to the title

Arsenal go into another season with the hopes of beating Manchester City to the Premier League title.

The Gunners lost the Premier League title to rivals Man City last season for the second time in a row.

Arteta’s men pushed Guardiola’s formidable team until the final day of the season but were short of winning the league by two points.

However, this season, they will be looking to dethrone the Citizens come May and claim the EPL title for the first time since 2004.

Why Arsenal will beat Man City to the title

Arteta has struggled to beat Guardiola’s men to the title in the last two seasons, with the Gunners only getting the second position as compensation.

Arsenal will begin their Premier League campaign against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirate stadium on Saturday, with the hopes of beating Citizens to the title this season.

With the Gunners set for another title challenge this season, we take a look at why they will beat Man City to the trophy.

1. Improving the squad with quality signings

The Gunners have added new quality signings to their squad ahead of the new season, which has made them look like a team ready to go for the title.

Arteta has signed David Raya on a full transfer and also completed the signing of Italian centre-back Riccardo Calafiori.

Arsenal had the best defence last season, and the new addition of Calafiori has made them look invincible.

The Gunners are also close to signing Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad, which will be a big upgrade in the midfield, and they are still in the market for a forward.

If all transfers can be completed, they will be considered the favourites to win the Premier League title.

2. Past title challenge experience

The Gunners have gained a lot of experience from their past title challenge, and those experiences could help them this season.

After losing the title to Manchester City two years in a row, Arteta's team appears more experienced and self-assured.

It will be easy for them to avoid last season’s mistakes, which will come as a bonus for the Gunners.

3. Squad depth

One of the advantages Arsenal have this season is the squad depth, which will help them during the course of the season.

The Gunners currently have two players in every position on the team, which is a perfect way to keep the team in balance.

Arsenal also have players who can play multiple positions without affecting the dynamics of the team.

4. Better defensive solidity

It is mostly known that defence wins titles, and this is one thing Arsenal have always developed in the past years.

The Gunners had the best defensive record last season, conceding only 29 goals all through the Premier League campaign.

Arteta has made sure that the team is as solid at the back as a rock and the addition of Calafiori to the team has sealed the little gap.

The defence this season is strong enough for the Gunners to beat Man City to the title, which is the first step to reaching the finish line.

5. Set Piece prowess

One of the advantages the Gunners had last season was the quality of their set piece, which caused havoc for a lot of teams.

The Gunners were just unstoppable when it came to dead balls, and set-piece coach Nicolas Jover did a massive job with their aerial threat.

Arsenal scored 91 goals last season, with 20 goals coming from set pieces, the most goals scored by a team from set pieces.

Arteta’s men are a big threat when it comes to set pieces and it is a big advantage to them when they face teams that are difficult to break down.
