El-Kanemi end 32-year wait for FA Cup glory
Nasiru Salihu was the hero of the day, scoring once in each half to secure the historic triumph - the first time El-Kanemi have won the prestigious cup competition since their back-to-back successes in 1990 and 1991.
The victory means El-Kanemi will now join the likes of Rangers International, Remo Stars and Enyimba in representing Nigeria in next season's CAF club competitions.
I don't know how to describe the joy in Maiduguri right now because the only thing El-Kanemi Warriors knew before now was Federation Cup which they won back-to-back in 1990 and 91," a delighted coach Aliyu Zubairu said after the match.

El-Kanemi were dominant throughout the contest, with Salihu making amends for an early penalty miss by scoring either side of half-time to seal the trophy for the underdogs.
The win marks a remarkable achievement for the lower division club, who have defied the odds to deny their more illustrious NPFL opponents Abia Warriors and clinch the prestigious Federation Cup title.
