Shabana have been sanctioned heavily for the acts of hooliganism witnessed in the aftermath of their FKF Premier League match against Ulinzi Stars when property was destroyed.

Shabana FC have been handed a five-match ban following chaos witnessed at the end of their FKF Premier League match against Ulinzi Stars on Sunday.

Tore Bobe will have to play their next five matches behind closed doors in a move aimed at clamping down on cases of hooliganism following a decision by the FKF Disciplinary Committee.

A section of Shabana fans were involved in an incident of hooliganism that saw them vandalize parts of Ulinzi Complex after Ulinzi scored a late equaliser in the league clash.

Shabana played out a 2-2 draw with Ulinzi Stars after Staphod Odhiambo broke the deadlock for the soldiers before Shabana levelled through Mathew Tegisi for 1-1 at halftime.

In the second half, Tegisi sealed his brace with Shabana holding on until very late when Glen Wafula headed in the leveller for Ulinzi Stars in stoppage time.

That goal did not go down well with a section of Shabana fans and soon after the final whistle, the stadium descended into chaos.

The irate supporters were furious at what they claimed to be ‘unfair officiating’ over the second goal scored by the soldiers and that is when they started vandalizing property, removing seats and throwing them to the pitch while a police officer was beaten as he tried to calm down the situation.

Shabana club will also cover repair costs for the vandalized seats and cater for medical expenses of the the injured officer, sanctions that will hit them hard as the club is one of the most supported in the country and relies a lot on gate collections to generate revenue.

It comes just when Shabana were preparing to return to their Gusii Stadium turf, starting this Saturday, when they host Posta Rangers.

The Glamour Boys will play without fans for matches against Posta, Sofapaka, Nairobi City Stars, AFC Leopards and FC Talanta, meaning they will welcome their fans at home on December 14 when they host KCB.
