With their Champions League campaign faltering and questions over the team’s attack, the French giants are under pressure to make a significant addition to their forward line, and Osimhen could provide the spark PSG need to reignite their season.
PSG’s struggles prompt a change in strategy
The Nigerian striker has emerged as a key target as the French giants look to address their lacklustre form.
Despite manager Luis Enrique’s previous hesitation to sign a traditional centre-forward, with two already on the squad, the team’s struggles in the UEFA Champions League and Ligue 1 have forced a rethink.
RMC Sport journalist Daniel Rioli revealed that Osimhen’s name is being “seriously” discussed as a solution to PSG’s attacking woes, with Randal Kolo Muani potentially heading for an exit, increasing the urgent need for reinforcements to bolster their forward lineup front.
Osimhen form appeals to PSG
One of the main draws of a January move for Osimhen is the reduced price tag. After Napoli loaned him to Galatasaray, his market value is expected to be significantly lower than in the summer, with the Italian club no longer demanding €120 million for his signature.
With nine goals and five assists in only 12 matches for Galatasaray since his loan move, Osimhen’s quality upfront could be the missing piece in PSG’s bid to regain momentum in Europe and secure domestic dominance.
While Luis Enrique has hesitated in the past to secure a move for Osimhen, the urgency of the situation seems to have changed his mind.
As January approaches, all eyes will be on PSG to see if they can finalise this ambitious transfer and spark a much-needed revival in their campaign.
