Paris Saint-Germain have had another key player ruled out of the season due to injury.
Paris Saint-Germain announced today that left-back Nuno Mendes has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a hamstring injury.
The 20-year-old Portugal international suffered the injury in PSG's 3-1 defeat to Lorient. The casualty comes at the most unfortunate of times for Les Parisians, who are in struggling form and risk losing the league title.
Mendes out of the season
The French Champions announced via a club medical statement today that young Mendes suffered an injury in his right hamstring that will rule him out of the rest of the campaign.
Mendes came on in the second half to replace Juan Bernat, and although he completed the game, he walked out of the pitch with discomfort.
Following examination, it has now been determined that the extent of the injury will prevent him from playing again this season as Christophe Galtier enters the final run-in of the season.
PSG will be without the Portuguese for their upcoming league game as they look to avoid a slip-up at the top of the table, with rivals Marseille only five points behind them.
The injury blow follows another from earlier when the club announced that Neymar had undergone surgery and would not play for the remainder of the campaign.
