Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling has admitted the team has been well below standards this season but has no regrets about moving to Stamford Bridge.
Raheem Sterling left the Premier League champions Manchester City last summer to join the Todd Boehly era at Chelsea but saying things have gone horribly bad would be an understatement.
Sterling's difficult start to life at Chelsea
Sterling, the rest of the team, including the new signings and managers, past and present, have fallen way below expectations in West London.
Individually, Sterling has managed a paltry four league goals this season, despite being brought in to increase the output of a faltering attack.
"Sometimes you have lows. I haven't been in this situation in my career so far but I am more than up to the challenge," he told The Sun.
"We are disappointed when we come off the pitch and feel angry and disappointed. There are times when we finish a game you just sit in the changing room looking into space because you can't understand what has just happened. It's tough to take. You are always trying to look for a positive solution.
“We want the results and winning trophies to be the main attraction for the football club like it has been for so many years.
"That’s why I came here, because of the rich history and with the new owners and new direction, it was a no-brainer. And I have no regrets at all.”
Chelsea are currently 11th in the Premier League standings, with next to no hope of playing European football next season. Sterling's only hope is a good finish to the current campaign.
