American coach Randy Waldrum has reportedly extended his stay with the Super Falcons of Nigeria by signing a contract extension.

Randy Waldrum has reportedly signed a contract extension as Super Falcons head coach, potentially putting an end to the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Waldrum guided Nigeria to the round of 16 at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand but has since been away from the team due to the expiration of his contract.

Sports journalist Osasu Obayiuwana revealed via a post on his official X (previously Twitter) account that Waldrum has signed his own part of the agreement to extend his stay with the Super Falcons.

The report indicates that the extension will be made official when the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) signs off on its own end of the deal which is what is currently holding up the new contract.

The information of the contract such as duration and remuneration remain undisclosed but it appears the saga between Randy Waldrum and the NFF is drawing to a close.

Waldrum’s initial contract with the NFF expired in October of the previous year and there has been a delay in finalising the contract extension which has raised questions.

The Super Falcons have crucial 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers scheduled for next month. The team is set to face Cameroon in the third round of Olympic Games qualifying between February 19 and 28, following their 5-1 aggregate victory over Ethiopia in the second round.
