Godwin Obaje and Flavour played pivotal roles as Rangers Int'l returned to the NPFL in style against Bayelsa United.

Reliable striker Godwin Obaje and Nigerian music sensation Flavour were the stars of the show as Rangers International extended their lead at the top of the Nigerian Premier Football League, NPFL, with a commanding 3-0 victory over Bayelsa United.

Obaje was the main man on the pitch, netting a brace to take his tally for the season to 11 goals, while Highlife star Flavour entertained the home fans with a special halftime performance at the Cathedral in Enugu on Sunday evening.

Obaje opened the scoring in the 41st minute to give the Flying Antelopes the lead at the break, before doubling their advantage just after the hour mark.

Chiedozie Okorie then put the icing on the cake with the third goal two minutes later to seal a comfortable win for the league leaders.

The convincing win sees the Rangers open up a four-point gap at the summit of the NPFL standings, as they continue their march towards what would be a first league title since 2016.

Defending champions Enyimba kept the pressure on the league leaders with a narrow 1-0 win over local rivals Abia Warriors, Ovoke grabbing the all-important goal for the Peoples Elephant.

But the day belonged to Rangers and their inspirational duo of Obaje and Flavour, who combined to devastating effect to leave Bayelsa United in their wake on the day the NPFL returned for the run-in.
