Barcelona's efforts to register Dani Olmo immediately bore fruit, as the Spain international scored the winning goal as the Blaugrana came from behind to beat Rayo Vallecano.

The Blaugrana were pegged behind in the first half, but they continued their trend of excellent second-halves as they scored twice after the break to beat their Madrid-based opponents.

Key match details

The Blaugrana were slow out of the gate as they struggled with Rayo’s high press. The hosts shocked Hansi Flick's men with a goal before the 10th minute, thanks to a Unai Lopez strike that beat Marc Andre Ter Stegen in his near post.

Buoyed by the motivated Estadio de Vallecas following the early goal, Rayo pressed for a second goal and continued to rock their opponents.

Barcelona soon found their footing midway through the first-half and started to find spaces in the host's backline. They could not manage to find an equaliser in the half, however.

Flick made an inspired substitution, bringing in Olmo, whom the club finally managed to register with LALIGA after signing him weeks ago. He had an instant impact and influenced Barcelona's general play.

The visitors finally found the equaliser on the hour mark when Raphinha cut back to Pedri, who buried the ball at the back of the net with his weak foot. Flick's men intensified their efforts as they were determined to find a winner.

They got the ball across the line in the 73rd minute thanks to a Robert Lewandowski strike, but a foul from Jules Kounde in the build-up meant the goal was chalked off.

Barcelona were going to have the last laugh, however, when Lamine Yamal cut the ball back to Olmo into space. The 26-year-old opened up his body and curled the ball past Dani Cardenas. Rayo pressed for a late equaliser, but Barcelona held on to collect the maximum points, taking their total tally for the season to nine points, which shut them up to the top of the LALIGA logs.
