Real Betis have officially announced the signing of Ayoze Perez on loan from Leicester City.
Real Betis have confirmed the signing of Ayoze Perez on loan from Leicester City for the rest of the season.
The 29-year-old Spanish forward desired a move back home following diminished game time at Leicester City. He is now a Real Betis player.
Ayoze Perez to Real Betis
Real Betis announced via their official channels that they have signed Canarian striker Ayoze Perez on loan from Leicester City until June 30, 2023.
The date his loan with Real Betis expires is also when his contract with Leicester City expires, giving him a chance to negotiate a new contract with the Verdiblancos as a free agent.
Perez shone in the Premier League, particularly for Newcastle United, where he scored 48 goals in 198 games, earning him a move to Leicester City.
His time at Leicester City paled in comparison to his time at Newcastle; however, Real Betis Manager Manuel Pellegrini, who is well aware of Perez's qualities and desperately needs squad depth, pushed for Perez's signing and has now gotten his man.
Real Betis nearly missed out on Perez, with whom they had initially reached an agreement but were unable to inscribe him as they had not generated enough salary margin per LaLiga regulations.
Villarreal were said to have moved to hijack the bid following their loss of Arnaut Danjuma, with the player also reported to have reached an agreement with the Yellow Submarines.
However, Betis managed to get Diego Lainez and Loren Moron off their books today, going to Tigres and Las Palmas, respectively, allowing the Heliopolitans to register Perez.
