Carlo Ancelotti has revealed Los Blancos’ plan after Vini Jr’s dismissal on Friday.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has expressed his frustration over the red card shown to Vinicius Jr during their 2-1 win against Valencia.
The Brazilian winger was dismissed in the second half following an altercation with Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Dimitrievski, a decision that Ancelotti believes was harsh.
Despite the 79th-minute decision, Los Blancos overturned a 1-0 deficit to score twice through Luka Modric and Jude Bellingham in minutes 85 and 95, sending them top of LaLiga ahead of rivals Atletico.
What Ancelotti said
Ancelotti argued that the incident warranted two yellow cards, one for each player, rather than a straight red for Vinicius Jr.
He felt that Dimitrievski initiated the confrontation by laying hands on the Real forward, who then retaliated with a shove.

“We felt the sending-off should have been two yellows, one for each player, but they showed Vini Jr. a red,” said Ancelotti after the victory. “We're going to appeal it, I'm not sure if they'll overturn it.
“We don't feel it was a red card. Dimitrievski laid hands on him and then there was Vini Jr.'s shove. Two yellows would have sufficed and that would have been it. I don't want to say he fell into the trap.”
Despite the red card, Ancelotti defended Vinicius Jr, highlighting his importance to the team, emphasising his ability to be a game-changer for Real Madrid.
“I hope he can play in the next game because he's very much a player who makes the difference for us,” said the Los Blancos boss.
What next for Real Madrid?
Although Real Madrid do not return to league action until January 19 against Las Palmas, Los Blancos play Dep Minera in the Copa del Rey on January 6 and Mallorca three days later on the Supercopa de Espana semi-final in Saudi Arabia.
