Neymar became the latest star to move to Saudi Arabia joining other superstars including Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema among others.
Benzema at Ittihad
After 14 years at Madrid, with 647 appearances, 353 goals scored and 165 assists, the French international swapped Madrid for Saudi Arabia.
He penned a two-year contract with the club which will see him stay in Saudi Arabia until the summer of 2025.
But after just eight weeks at the club, Benzema, who earns almost €200m per season in net salary, commercial deals included, is unhappy at the club.
Benzema and Santo
According to a report from Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Benzema has been told that he is not wanted at the club as he does not fit the tactical style of the manager.
Former Tottenham and Wolves manager Nuno Espírito Santo has reportedly told the Ittihad board and was also not in favour of Benzema’s move to the club.
The Portuguese manager also rejected Benzema's request for the captain's armband which has now seen the Frenchman being 'uncomfortable' working in the current environment at the Saudi club, perhaps opening the door to a shock transfer.
