La Liga champions Real Madrid have been dealt a significant blow after one of their key players suffered a torn ACL.
Real Madrid have confirmed that Brazilian defender Eder Militao suffered a devastating injury in Saturday's 4-0 win over Osasuna.
Militao tore his right anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and damaged both meniscuses in his right leg.
The 26-year-old was stretchered off in the 30th minute and replaced by Raul Asencio.
The injury is a significant setback for Carlo Ancelotti's men, who are, already missing Dani Carvajal and David Alaba.
To make matters worse, this is Militao's second ACL tear in two seasons. He previously suffered a similar injury in his left knee against Athletic Bilbao in August 2023.
The Brazilian will undergo surgery in the coming days, effectively ruling him out for the remainder of the season.
Meanwhile, Los Blancos got their season back on track with a comfortable 4-0 win over Osasuna.
Vinicius Junior responded to his Ballon d'Or snub with a hat-trick and Jude Bellingham opened his account for the season, as the champions aim to keep pace with Barcelona.
