Carlo Ancelotti believes only one person can force him to retire anytime soon
Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti, recently shared that he is beginning to contemplate retirement but still holds aspirations of winning yet another Champions League title.
After an illustrious career spanning over four decades, the Italian tactician, who led Real Madrid to the Champions League final in 2024, expressed that his retirement plans may ultimately rest in the hands of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
Ancelotti hoping for one last Champions League title
The veteran Italian manager, who has hoisted the Champions League trophy five times throughout his managerial career, admitted that coaching Real Madrid brings a unique sense of accomplishment.
Speaking to France Football, Ancelotti revealed his desire to add one more Champions League title to his collection, explaining, “Before retiring, I’d like to win another Champions League.
“Every coach wants to reach the highest levels. Coaching Real Madrid is truly special; it’s the best club in the world because of its history, atmosphere, and fans”
Ancelotti has already claimed three Champions League titles as Real Madrid coach after successes in 2014, 2022 and 2024, but his appetite for the biggest gong in Europe remains in tact even as he eyes retirement.
Ancelotti sets prerequisites for retirement
Reflecting on his legacy, Ancelotti confessed that he would strongly consider retirement imminently if his tenure at Real Madrid comes to an abrupt end.
He confessed saying, “Retirement? Yes, I can imagine it. I started playing football forty-eight years ago, so I’m beginning to think about the day when all this might end. What might make me stop? I’d say I would stop if Real Madrid fired me
Speaking on his post-retirement plans, Ancelotti said, “What I am sure of is that the day I retire will be fantastic. I have so many things to do and places to see. I want to go to Argentina, the Maldives, Australia; I want to travel.”
Ancelotti, who has coached some of the biggest teams in the world, including Real Madrid, AC Milan, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich will certainly go down as one of the greatest managers in the history of European football when he does decide to leave the game.
