Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is set to miss his sixth match in a row, and the reason for his reported falling out with head coach Ruben Amorim has been revealed

Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United has been thrown into uncertainty after being dropped from four matchday squads by manager Ruben Amorim.

While Rashford has publicly hinted at a desire for a "new challenge," the real reason behind his exclusion has now been revealed, sparking speculation about a possible January transfer.

Amorim drops Rashford after breaking pre-game rules

The catalyst for Rashford’s absence reportedly traces back to a disagreement over a pre-match rule enforced by Amorim.

Reports suggest that the Manchester United manager was unhappy with Rashford’s behaviour before the 4-0 win against Everton on December 1 after allegations surfaced that the England international was out in Manchester on the night of November 29, just over a day before the match.

Although Rashford scored twice against Everton, Amorim reportedly received information about his pre-match activities after the game, prompting him to bench Rashford for the next match against Arsenal and subsequently exclude him from four matchday squads.

Rashford has denied the allegations, maintaining that Amorim was misinformed about his whereabouts, and those close to the forward have also refuted claims of any wrongdoing, but the incident appears to have strained relations between the player and his gaffer.

Rashford opens door to a new challenge

Following his exclusion in the Manchester derby, Rashford made his intentions clear in a tell-all interview, expressing openness to a move away from Old Trafford.

Speaking to journalist Henry Winter, the 27-year-old said, “For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps. When I leave, it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings.’”

Rashford’s comments have fueled speculation about a January exit, with the Red Devils reportedly willing to let him leave during the upcoming transfer window in exchange for Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen.

As January approaches, all eyes will be on Rashford and Manchester United to see if this rift results in one of the club’s most recognisable stars leaving Old Trafford.
