The Red Devils midfielder has already shown signs of dissatisfaction after a summer move to supposedly greener pastures

Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans is reportedly unhappy with his lot at Aston Villa after joining the West Midlands club during the summer from relegated Leicester City.

Tielemans unhappy with current Aston Villa playing time

Tielemans, a highly-rated midfield talent, was a target for Premier League giants Arsenal before joining Aston Villa, but he could already be regretting that decision after openly expressing his unhappiness at the lack of game time since his summer move while on international duty with Belgium.

The former Leicester midfielder has not made a single Premier League start since his move to Aston Villa, with his only appearance for the club that did not come from the bench coming against Hibernian in a dead-rubber UEFA Europa Conference League playoff.

The ace midfielder has only played a total of 206 minutes from a possible 540 minutes for the Villans, and with the Euros coming up at the end of the season, Tielemans could already be feeling he made the wrong choice in clubs.

Tielemans details Emery’s role in Aston Villa nightmare

Speaking ahead of international commitments for Belgium, Tielemans noted his unhappiness with his current situation but noted that his manager, Unai Emery, had done little to change it.

Tielemans told Belgian outfit DH: “The situation is not pleasant. I told the manager [Emery] that I came to Villa to play. He understands me, but at the moment, he prefers to play with his two midfielders from last season.

“He told me that soon the matches will come one after the other and I will have more playing time. I know this answer doesn't help me move forward, but what should I do?”

The former Monaco and Anderlecht midfielder, however, noted that he would continue doing all he could to become a first-team regular, saying, “Whenever I have an opportunity, I want to take it. So far, I have started once, in the Conference League.”

Tielemans remains a key part of the Belgian national team despite his struggles and the Red Devils will hope that he finds a way to secure more playing time ahead of the 2024 Euros in Germany.
