Forward Iheanacho has struggled in Spain, but another big club is offering him a way out.

Egyptian giants Al Ahly have reportedly entered the race to sign Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho in the January transfer window.

Al Ahly who have won the CAF Champions League on twelve occasions, and has emerged as the champion of Egypt 44 times, are desperately looking to add Iheanacho to their ranks.

Iheanacho, who joined Sevilla on a free transfer last summer after his contract with Leicester City expired, has struggled to make an impact in Spain, failing to score or assist in nine league appearances for the Rojiblancos.

Several clubs have been linked with the 28-year-old, with Sevilla reportedly willing to let him leave, on loan with an option to buy.

Initially, a move to Sky Bet Championship side Watford was rumoured. However, according to the Express, Al Ahly have now emerged as a strong contender for Iheanacho’s signature.

The Cairo-based club are reportedly considering Iheanacho as a potential replacement for South African forward Percy Tau.

Furthermore, Al Ahly are keen to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the Club World Cup in the USA this summer.

This interest from a prominent African club like Al Ahly could offer Iheanacho a chance to revitalise his career.
