Nigeria's Nathan Owolabi was reported employed by the newly promoted League Two side Bromley off Football Manager, FM.

Earlier reports suggesting Nigerian Nathan Owolabi was hired by recently promoted Bromley purely based on his experience playing Football Manager have been clarified and corrected.

Owolabi was initially said to have joined the club's coaching staff earlier this year after impressing with his tactical knowledge from the popular management simulation game.

However, comments on social media have provided more accurate details about the 23-year-old's role at the club he has helped secure promotion to the Football League for the first time in their 132-year history.

One tweet clarified: "The tweet is not correct. He's appointed as Support Performance Tactician as part of the club's partnership with Xbox & Football Manager.

"His role is to learn from all the coaching staff, including Manager Andy Woodman, to understand the ins and outs of all the tactical decisions."

Pulse Sports Nigeria’s check on Owolabi revealed that the talented and aspiring football coach started working at Bromley in February as a support performance analyst.

So while Owolabi did earn an opportunity with Bromley through Football Manager, it is in more of an observational support role to gain experience, rather than being solely responsible for tactical decisions based on the game.

The impressive work of manager Andy Woodman and his coaching staff in masterminding Bromley's promotion cannot be overlooked or overshadowed.

Owolabi's position allows him to learn from those already well-versed in managing a successful team in reality as he aims to follow in their footsteps and progress in the coaching world himself.

It's an innovative opportunity for the Nigerian to get first-hand experience after honing his skills in the virtual dugout with Football Manager's acclaimed tactical depth.
