Arsenal have reportedly suffered a setback in their search for a new forward.

Aston Villa have reportedly rejected an Arsenal bid for their ridiculously prolific striker Jhon Duran, demanding a significantly higher transfer fee.

The 20-year-old Colombia international joined the Villans from MLS side Chicago Fire in the winter transfer window of 2022, after they lost starting striker Danny Ings.

While he has not displaced Ollie Watkins as starting striker in his time at the club, the young forward's incredible scoring-to-minutes ratio has placed him on the radar of top football clubs.

The Gunners have been evaluating the striker market for multiple transfer windows and they have been strongly linked with a move for Duran, as have Chelsea and Manchester United.

According to a recent report from Colombian publication Antena 2, the Gunners calcified their interest, tabling a €55 million offer to Aston Villa. However, their offer was immediately rejected by the Birmingham-based side.

Villa are said to have demanded at least €85 million to release Duran to whichever suitor is willing to match it; otherwise, they are happy to keep him, as manager Unai Emery and Sporting Director Monchi have reiterated on multiple occasions.
