Barcelona are reportedly interested in raiding the Gunenrs backline as they look to bolster their defence ahead of the 2025/26 season.

According to multiple reports, Takehiro Tomiyasu has emerged as a key target for the La Lig club.

The Japanese international has impressed at Arsenal with his versatility, capable of playing as both a right-back and a centre-back.

Tomiyasu, 26, has been an important squad player for Mikel Arteta’s side, despite struggling with injuries in recent seasons. Arsenal are reportedly reluctant to part ways with the defender but could be open to negotiations if Barcelona present a suitable offer.

Tomiyasu’s versatility key to Barcelona's interest

Per reports, his ability to adapt to different roles makes him an attractive prospect for Barça, who are looking to build a more solid defensive structure under Hansi Flick.

However, with financial constraints limiting their spending power, Barcelona may explore a structured deal, possibly including an initial loan with an obligation to buy.

The club is also monitoring other defensive targets but views Tomiyasu’s Premier League experience and versatility as key assets.

Arsenal, currently focused on strengthening their own squad, are unlikely to let Tomiyasu leave without securing a replacement. However, if Barcelona push ahead with their interest, negotiations could take place in the coming months.

In addition, it has been reported that Barcelona sporting director Deco is also keen on the move.

The defender once went on trial at Barcelona during his youth days and was offered a spot at the club's youth academy. However, he found it hard to relocate to Spain, stalling the move.
