Evan Ndicka is set to join Barcelona for free in the summer.
Barcelona have reportedly reached a verbal pre-agreement with Frankfurt centre-back Evan Ndicka to join for free at the end of the season.
Barcelona's agreement with Ndicka
Christopher Michel, a reporter for German publication Sport1 reports that Barcelona had reached a verbal agreement with Ndicka for the player to join at the end of the season for free.
The 23-year-old French-Cameroonian joined Frankfurt from Auxerre in the summer of 2018, and his contract with the Europa League holders expires at the end of the season. He is now said to be set to join Barcelona.
However, the deal has not been fully agreed upon, with Barcelona said to be evaluating the move, and a decision is expected to be made by the Blaugrana in March. Ndicka is reported to be waiting on Barcelona.
Ndicka has been a mainstay in Frankfurt's defence in recent times, and he was part of the Frankfurt team that knocked Barcelona out of the Europa League last season on their way to winning the competition, although it was not a remarkable tie for him individually, as he gave away a penalty and got a red card in the second leg that Frankfurt eventually won 3-2.
Ndicka has started 20 games for Frankfurt in the Bundesliga this season, helping them keep four clean sheets. He also started all of their Champions League group-stage games, and he set up one assist.
With reports suggesting Tottenham would not be making Clement Lenglet's deal permanent, if Barcelona were to go ahead with the deal, Ndicka would become the sixth centre-back at the club, alongside Jules Kounde, Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, and Eric Garcia.
