Brazil are back in the hunt for Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti after they were thrashed by a Messi-less Argentina team.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is back in the hunt for Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, according to a report by Ge Globo (via Sports Illustrated).
Brazil's quest for a ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup was dealt a huge blow after the Samba Boys fell to a demoralising 4-1 defeat to eternal rivals Argentina.

Atletico Madrid’s striker Julian Alvarez put Argentina in front and Chelsea's Fernandez doubled the lead before Cunha halved the deficit for Brazil. However, Mac Allister and Simeone added two more strikes to embarrass the Selecao.
To make matters worse, the Albiceleste put Brazil to the sword in the absence of their maestro Lionel Messi who missed the game via injury.
Brazil in pursuit of Real Madrid coach Ancelotti
Back in 2013, there were rumours that Ancelotti had agreed to take the Brazil job but the Italian tactician made a U-turn, extending his contract at Real Madrid until 2026.
This prompted Brazil to hire Dorival Junior to manage the national team but results have not been impressive and the CBF are back in the hunt for Ancelotti.
Ancelotti’s overwhelming success in club football and his relationship with key Brazilian players like Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes whom he already manages at Real Madrid could be an indicator why the CBF is doing everything within its powers to convince the Italian manager to become the head coach of the Selecao.
There are speculations surrounding Ancelotti's reign at Madrid coming to an end soon, with former Los Blancos midfielder and current Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso touted as the perfect replacement for the Italian manager.
Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti has maintained that any discussion regarding his future must be put on hold until after the expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup scheduled to take place between June 14th and July 13th. As one of the 32 selected teams, Real Madrid will be participating as Champions of Europe.

Five-time winners of the FIFA World Cup Brazil are tied on 21 points with Uruguay and Paraguay after 14 matches. Argentina have 31 points and have booked a placed at the 2026 fiesta already.
