Borussia Dortmund are rumoured to be interested in signing an unwanted Blues youngster on loan in the January transfer window.

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka on loan during the January transfer window, as per The Athletic

The 21-year-old has struggled for game time at Stamford Bridge and could be allowed to leave in search of more regular first-team football.

Chukwuemeka joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in 2022 for a fee of £20 million, but has failed to establish himself in the first team, making just five appearances this season, with only one coming in the Premier League.

Dortmund’s Chukwuemeka interest

Enzo Maresca advised Chukwuemeka to leave the club in the summer to gain more experience, and a loan move to Dortmund could provide the ideal opportunity for the young midfielder to develop his game.

However, the report suggests that the Blues prefer a permanent sale for the youngster, although they may consider a loan move to Strasbourg, another club owned by BlueCo, the multi-club ownership group that also owns Chelsea.

Dortmund, currently sixth in the Bundesliga, are looking to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season; Chukwuemeka's versatility and potential could make him a valuable addition to their midfield.

Despite his lack of playing time at Chelsea, the 21-year-old remains a highly-rated prospect, having represented England at various youth levels and is seen as a potential future star for the Three Lions.
