Super Eagles star Gift Orban has joined the list of players set to be offloaded by Lyon in the January transfer window.
Orban joined Lyon KAA Gent in January 2024 for a fee worth €12 million and signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Ligue 1 side.
However, he has since failed to live up to the expectations, which saw him score 32 goals in 52 appearances for Gent.
The striker also fell further down the pecking order after his controversial post praising his opponent on social media.

‘It’s a decision for the team - Lyon manager gives reason for Super Eagles star exclusion from squad
Lyon coach Pierre Sage has given a reason as to why he left Super Eagles star Gift Orban from the team squad against Auxerre.
Orban to leave Lyon
Gift Orban’s time in Lyon is coming to an end gradually as reports suggest that he will be sold in January.
According to Get French Football News on X, “Lyon want to sell Saïd Benrahma (29) and Gift Orban (22) during the January transfer window, according to @MohamedTERParis.”
The Super Eagles striker has been a shadow of himself since joining the French side and will likely be shown the door when the window opens.
He has only played 21 games for Lyon since joining the club and has scored only five goals for the French side.
The striker was also left out of the team list against Auxerre, with the manager claiming he has not been performing well in training.
With the forward set to be offloaded amongst other players, his next destination is yet to be confirmed.
