The Egyptian winger with 243 goals is already regarded as one of the greatest players in Liverpool’s history and he is only behind Roger Hunt (274) and Ian Rush (339) in the goalscoring chart for the club.
However, with Salah’s contract expiring at the end of this season, he and Liverpool have been at loggerheads over a contract renewal; the Egyptian even voiced his frustration that no offer had been made yet earlier in the season and several reports claiming he was on his out of the club, with some replacements already identified by the club.
There were also reports last season that the whole of Saudi was waiting for Mo Salah to join them, however, the arrival of Arne Slot at Merseyside changed everything.
Salah is enjoying arguably his best season so far in a Red jersey, under the guidance of Dutch tactician Arne Slot, and this might have played a role in convincing the Egyptian winger to stay.
Salah set to extend Liverpool stay
While the report from FootMercato didn’t provide any details regarding the financial obligations of the deal, it is however believed that Liverpool have finally tabled an offer that satisfies Mo Salah and the 32-year-old would put pen to paper in the coming days.
Salah’s 27 goals and 17 assists in the English Premier League has helped the Reds pull 12-points clear of closest rival Arsenal in the hunt for the title.

The EPL remains Liverpool’s only realistic chance at Silverware this season, having crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of PSG, and lost the EFL final to Newcastle. Arne Slot’s team are also out of the FA Cup.
Former Chelsea and Roma star Salah is particularly excited about the prospect of winning another league title, especially because the 2020 triumph couldn’t be celebrated with fans because of COVID restrictions.
Meanwhile, Liverpool still have to resolve the futures of other important players like captain Virgil Van Dijk (33) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (26) who has reportedly agreed a move to eternal rival Real Madrid.
