Real Madrid have gotten a response from Liverpool after they approched to sign Arnold in January.

Liverpool have reportedly rejected an offer from Real Madrid to sign Trent Alexander Arnold this January transfer window.

The 26-year-old Reds vice-captain is one of the three Liverpool superstars whose contracts are set to expire at the end of the season.

As Pulse Sports reported, Los Blancos were readying to sign Trent when he became available on a free transfer. They are now said to have pulled the trigger earlier, as they want him six months ahead of schedule.

The details

Unlike Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van whose extensions are also unresolved, Trent is in his physical prime, and hence, his contract situation has attracted top European clubs.

Real Madrid are chiefly keen, as they are in search of a new right-back following Dani Carvajal’s season-ending injury and advanced age.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, while they could wait till the new year to offer him a pre-contract agreement, they contacted Liverpool to discuss transferring the defender this January but got a resounding no.

The Reds are still in negotiations with Trent and will hope to reach an agreement with him before the end of the season. The player on the other hand refused to commit in his most recent media appearances.

His comments lately in which he stated his current motivations were to win a truckload of trophies and go down as one the greatest in his position suggested that he found the Real Madrid proposal appealing, a source of anguish to Anfield faithful.
