Real Madrid and Spain star Marco Asensio will reportedly leave the club at the end of the season.

Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio will reportedly leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires after turning down an offer to renew and continue with Los Blancos.

The 27-year-old Spain international joined the Madrid-based club in 2015 from Mallorca and has since gone on to have a decorated career with the Whites.

Asensio set to leave Real Madrid

According to Relevo, the former Espanyol man will reject the current deal he has been offered by the 14-time Champions League winners and will sign for a new club in the near future.

Per the report, the player is leaving for purely sporting reasons, as he is unsatisfied with his bit-part role on the team. He wants to be relied upon in crucial games, and that has not happened.

Asensio was said to have had an offer to leave in January but held to Ancelotti's words, who was suggested to have promised him a more prominent role. However, the Spain international retained a supporting role, and although his game time has improved in recent games, he remained only a substitute in the Champions League semi-finals and Copa del Rey final.

Hence why he will reportedly reject Madrid's offer, which, according to the source, will increase his current pay slightly and give him the option of signing a long-term contract.
