Inter Miami qualifies as the host country representative due to an impressive 34-match campaign. With two MLS matches remaining, it secured the shield.
They will also kick off the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 by playing the opening game in Miami, their hometown.

The World Football governing body, FIFA confirmed Inter Miami's participation after Lionel Messi scored a hat-trick to help his team break the MLS's regular-season points record.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino made the announcement during a fan and team celebration after Inter Miami’s final MLS regular season match against New England Revolution at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday.
“We all know how Miami is in love with football and how Inter Miami is supported from across Florida and beyond for your exciting brand of football.
“Congratulations on your wonderful 2024 Supporters’ Shield success. You have shown that in the United States, you are consistently the best club on the field of play.

Lionel Messi scored his second hat-trick in four days to help Inter Miami beat New England Revolution and eclipse the Revs MLS record.
“Therefore, I am proud to announce that as one of the best clubs in the world, you are deserved participants in the new FIFA Club World Cup 2025 as the host club representing the United States,” said the FIFA President.
FIFA President confirmed that next year’s global club showpiece will begin in the Magic City.
“We are looking forward to you hosting the opening match in Miami on Sunday, 15 June 2025. It’s sure to be a great celebration for global club football as the tournament features the best 32 clubs in the world, and provides a new opportunity for clubs, players, coaches, and fans alike to take their stories to the world,” added Infantino.
The expanded 32-team tournament is scheduled for the United States from June 15 to July 3, 2025.
It will feature 12 teams from Europe, six from South America, and 12 from Asia, Africa, and North America, with the final two spots for one club from Oceania and one from the host nation, the United States.
