The English top-flight is widely regarded as the most-watched football league on the planet.
However, a new study has now revealed the most cost-effective players currently plying their trade in the league.
The study revealed that Wolves centre back Max Kilman is the most cost-effective player in the Premier League, costing an average of £346.88 per touch.
This is according to Casino comparison site CasinoBonusCA analysed every Premier League player’s salary against the number of touches they have had so far in the 2022/23 season.
This, combined with the amount of playing time they have had for their team from the start of the season, revealed which player is the most cost-effective.
Top 10 most Cost-Effective Premier League players
Max Kilman who tops the list is adjudged to be the Premier League’s most cost-effective player.
The salary he has received so far, divided by the number of times he has touched the ball, was the lowest out of every player in the Premier League this season: his 1600 touches cost only £346.88 each.
The 25-year-old English centre back has played in every game for Wolves so far this season, helping the team to 15th in the league.
Kilman has had one of the more unconventional paths to the Premier League: he was the first player to move directly from non-League football to the Premier League since Chris Smalling in 2008. He has also represented England internationally in futsal.
Brighton midfielder Moisés Caicedo was the league’s second most cost-effective player, and most cost-effective midfielder, with each of his 1429 touches costing just £388.38.
The talented Ecuador international who had been linked with a move a way from the Amex in January, has been a mainstay of Brighton’s great season so far; his intelligent defensive play, and great technical ability, have helped Brighton to 7th in the Premier League.
Brentford midfielder Mathias Jensen came in as the third most cost-effective player, each of his 1207 touches costing £613.09.
The Danish centre midfielder has been at the heart of Brentford’s attacking efforts this season, starting in every one of their 23 games.
Jensen’s four assists and three goals make him the Bees’ top assister and fourth highest goal scorer.
Mohammed Salisu of Southampton came fourth for cost-effectiveness, with his 1,446 touches costing £639.70 each.
The Ghanaian centre back has had a tough time this season with the Saints, who are currently sitting bottom of the league.
However, his individual statistics paint a much more positive picture, with his 2.29 blocks per 90 minutes being of particular note.
Wolves’ Nathan Collins completes the top 5 of the most cost-effective Premier League players in 5th, costing £685.82 for each of his 1,079 touches.
The young Irish centre back has played in the majority of games so far in his first season for Wolves. Collins joined the Molineux outfit from Burnley in the summer for a record £20.5 million, the highest transfer fee ever paid for an Irish player.

Other Cost-Effective players in the Premier League
Other notable points include Brentford’s Ivan Toney as the most cost-effective forward in the Premier League at £914.71 per each of his 809 touches.
The English frontman is the leading goal scorer for the Bees this season with 14 goals, and the joint third highest goal scorer for the Premier League overall.
He is behind only Erling Haaland with 26 goals, and Harry Kane with 17 goals, as well as sharing the 3rd place position with Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.
Toney has been a mainstay of Brentford’s impressive season so far, who are currently sitting in 9th in the table.
Meanwhile, the most cost-effective goalkeeper was shown to be Southampton’s Gavin Bazunu. So far this season, his 909 touches of the ball cost £814.08 each.
The 21-year-old Irish shot-stopper has played every game so far for Southampton.
He has a perfect record for saving penalties in the Premier League this season, having saved the only penalty he has faced this season.
