The Senegal international was frequently slapped with hefty fines during his time at Anfield.
Sadio Mane completed a move to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in the summer, ending a successful six-year spell at Anfield.
The 30-year-old Senegalese forward established himself as one of the best players in the world, scoring 120 goals in 269 games while winning the Premier League and the Champions League, among other titles at the Merseyside club.
However, it has now been revealed that Mane was fined many times at Liverpool for similar reasons.
‘Some of the fines are hefty’
The Teranga Lions skipper was often fined on several occasions by the Premier League giants for failing to bring his passport on trips following a recent comment by his former teammate.
“Some of the fines are hefty,” Scottish full-back Andy Robertson was quoted to have told the We Are Liverpool podcast.
“If you forget your passport for an away trip, you’re getting a chunk of your income taken off you.
“ It occurred a few times, and Sadio was a major perpetrator, and it certainly delayed the plane and our arrival. We had to pay a large fine.” he added.
Robertson also disclosed that club captain Jordan Henderson and vice-captain James Milner oversee the fine system.
Mane left Liverpool for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022, calling time on his Premier League career having won every single trophy in England.
In the same year, the electric winger won the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal and helped Liverpool to three finals including the Champions League which the Reds narrowly lost out to Real Madrid in Lisbon.
Liverpool’s struggles following Mane’s exit
Liverpool have evidently underperformed since Mane’s exit to the Bavarian champions and many of the Reds fans have attributed their struggles to letting the talented Senegalese forward leave.
However, Mane himself has been impressive at Munich, lodging nine goal contributions in just 14 matches.
Liverpool currently sit in ninth place in the Premier League table with 29 points, ten points behind fourth-placed Manchester United with some fans already resigned to competing for top four as the maximum goal of the club this campaign.
