In a recent statement, Osimhen expressed his enthusiasm for joining Galatasaray, citing the club's stature and passionate fan base as key factors.
He also revealed that fellow Nigerian player Henry Onyekuru had spoken highly of the club's supporters, which was further confirmed by the warm welcome he received at the airport.
"It was easy to accept Gala as it's a big club," Osimhen remarked per a post by Fabrizio Romano.
The 25-year-old striker's decision comes after a period of tension with Napoli, which began last year before it escalated when Osimhen publicly expressed his desire to leave the club following a disappointing title defense.
The situation reached a breaking point when Napoli reportedly banished Osimhen for the remainder of the season after failed moves to Chelsea and Al Ahli.
Interestingly, Osimhen disclosed further that he had been following Galatasaray's games since former Napoli teammate Dries Mertens joined the Turkish side.
"I was already following Galatasaray and their games since Dries Mertens joined them, so I can't wait now," he stated, adding, "It's a massive club, massive fanbase. I'm ready!"
While the move to Galatasaray may not have been as high-profile as a transfer to the Premier League or Saudi Pro League, it could prove to be a shrewd career move for Osimhen.
Meanwhile, following the completion of his transfer, Osimhen has already returned to Nigeria via private jet to join his Super Eagles teammates for the upcoming AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
This quick transition demonstrates the player's commitment to both his new club and his national team duties.
Football fans around the world will be watching closely to see how he performs in the Turkish Süper Lig and on the European stage with Galatasaray.
