Odada believes that the games they played in 2023 allowed them to rebuild well for the challenge this year.

Harambee Stars midfielder Richard Odada believes Kenya is ready for a monumental 2024 that will see them take part in both the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Odada believes that the games in 2023 allowed them to rebuild well for the challenge this year, having taken part in friendly matches against teams like Iran, Qatar, and Russia.

“I feel like it was more of building and we had like a good challenge, you know, playing against Russia, playing against Qatar,” Odada told NTV.

Against Russia, they ran out a 2-2 draw after Ivan Oblyakov equalized in minute 89 after a quick counter to kill Kenya’s hopes of a much-needed win.

Odada has expressed regret at the fact that they were not able to win the game against Russia despite getting very close to victory.

“I feel Russia was a good game, it is a top team and we tried to give our best and almost won the game, unfortunately, we didn’t.”

Nonetheless, Odada believes the team knows what it wants and will fight to the very end to fulfill the dream.

“We had a very good build-up and now we know what we want as a team and we are going to fight for it until we get there.”

Odada is in Kenya for his mid-season holiday but will be flying back to Denmark on Thursday as AaB continue to seek promotion to the Danish Superliga.
