Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has shared his thoughts ahead of the 2024 Ballon d'Or.

Rio Ferdinand has said Manchester City's Rodri has been the best player in the world but may not win the Ballon d'Or.

Rodri made the 30-man shortlist for this year's award, following an impressive year that saw him win the Premier League and Euro 2024.

Rio Ferdinand speaks on Rodri's Ballon d'Or chances

Ferdinand believes Rodri needs to make one key change to take home the coveted prize.

Rodri has won 4 consecutive Premier League titles with Manchester City and is a leading contender for the Ballo d'Or

"I just think he needs to put a number ten on his back and he might win it," Ferdinand said, via Eurosport.

"That's the only thing - he's arguably the most complete footballer on the planet."

Ferdinand heaped praise on Rodri's consistency and all-around ability.

"He's the most consistent, arguably. I would have him as that. If he wins it, there'll be no arguments.

Every area of his game is an eight or nine out of ten at the moment, and it's been like that for maybe three years."

Rodri is up against several stars including Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham and Atalanta's Ademola Lookman.
