The coach praised his players for improved performance but believes they were frustrated by poor officiating.
Rivers Angels manager Edwin Okon has blamed officials for his side’s defeat in the NWFL.
The Angels suffered a first of the season in Port Harcourt following a 2-1 loss to neighbours Bayelsa Queens on Wednesday.
Flourish Sabastine opened the scoring as the visitors drew the first blood as early as the 11th minute in the Uniport Sports complex.
Adaobi Okah headed the Angels level with a lovely as both sides headed into the break with nothing to separate them.
However, 13 minutes from time, Bayelsa Queens stole all three points when Etim Edidiong fired the goal of the day to seal an important win for the Queens on the road.
The referees frustrated us
Bayelsa Queens’ win was the first time this season that Rivers Angels have dropped all three points at home.
But according to their boss, the referee was the major reason behind his side’s defeat on the day.
On the performance of his players
Okon praised his players for a better display than the last time but added that they were frustrated by the referees.
“They played very well,” he added. “They did better than the previous games. They did well, just the frustration from the referees."
