NWFL Chairperson, Nkechi Obi, expressed her satisfaction for Bayelsa to host the games, adding that the NWFL selected Bayelsa to stage this prestigious playoff competition.

She said, "We're thrilled to have Bayelsa State host the Super Six. This is a fantastic opportunity to elevate women's football in Bayelsa and across Nigeria."

This marks the first Super Six to be held in Bayelsa as Yenagoa is the home turf for Bayelsa Queens, who had a stellar 2022 season, clinching the NWFL Premiership title, winning the WAFU-B playoff, and securing a commendable third-place finish at the 2022 CAF Women's Champions League.

NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi explained that the tournament format will follow a round-robin style.

"Each team will play five matches, vying for the coveted championship title," she said.

Participating teams are expected to arrive in Yenagoa on May 16th as the draw and pre-match meeting will be held on May 17th at 10:00 AM.

The competition kicks off with Matchday One on May 18th and concludes with Matchday Five on May 26th with Three matches will be scheduled for each day, with breaks in between.

With the defending champion, Delta Queens, absent this year, six top contenders will battle for the league crown.

These teams qualified by finishing among the top three in their respective groups during the regular 14-match season.

The competing teams are: Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, Confluence Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, and Heartland Queens.

Group A saw Nasarawa Amazons take the lead with 27 points, followed by Confluence Queens (25 points) and Heartland Queens (24 points).

In Group B, Rivers Angels dominated with 27 points, leaving Edo Queens (23 points) and Bayelsa Queens (22 points) in their wake.

The champion of this year's Super Six will represent Nigeria in the WAFU-B qualifiers, striving to secure a spot in the prestigious 4th CAF Women's Champions League.
