Rivers Angels, Heartland Queens, others talk tough ahead of NWFL Super 6

The NWFL Super Six playoffs in Yenagoa will start on Saturday as Bayelsa the 7-time champions will host 5-time champions in the opening game of the competition.

Ahead of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super 6, the coaches have revealed that they are ready ahead of the title decider championship.

Pulse Sports reports that the NWFL Premiership Super Six playoffs in Yenagoa will start on Saturday as Bayelsa the 7-time champions will host 5-time champions in the opening game of the competition.

The six finalists for the Super Six are Rivers Angels, Edo Queens, Bayelsa Queens (from Group B), and Nasarawa Amazons, Confluence Queens, Heartland Queens (from Group A).

Heartland Queens Eyes Historic NWFL Title  in Super 6 Debut

Heartland Queens will be making their debut in the competition after they ended the regular season with 24 points out of 42 available points, finishing 3 points behind Nasarawa Amazons, who they will face first in the playoffs.

Obi Ogbala, who is Heartland Queens' Technical Adviser is brimming with confidence following the NWFL Super Six draw.

Ogbala declared that his team is determined to put their names in history by clinching the NWFL title for the very first time.

The coach emphasized that their participation is the culmination of a well-defined target they set and successfully achieved during the early days of the season.

He said, "This is the first time Heartland Queens is experiencing the Super Six. We gave ourselves the target of being in the Super Six, and we have achieved it.

"Nasarawa Amazons are our first opponents, and we're ready to compete with the teams. I want to compete and represent Nigeria on the continent.

"The team is young, and the players want to make names for themselves. They're going to put in their utmost efforts to see how far they can go in the competition and win the trophy."

Rivers Angels Ready to Soar in Super Six Opener, Says Coach Ogbonda

Meanwhile, Rivers Angels head coach, Whyte Ogbonda, is radiating optimism as his team gears up for their opening match in the NWFL Super Six.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Ogbonda expressed his unwavering belief in his team's ability to overpower their opponents, Bayelsa Queens, a former NWFL champion.

He said, “We are playing against the home team and it’s going to be a tough opposition to us at the end of the day we’re going to the three points. 

“The journey wasn’t easy but the players took over the game and we were able to qualify”
