Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has hinted at playing Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho in their upcoming Matchday 12 in the English Premier League.
The bottom-placed Foxes are set are clash with 16th-placed Leeds United at the King Power Stadium on Thursday, October 20 as both sides hope to drag themselves out of an early-season rut.
Leicester City have picked up only five (5) points from their first 10 matches in the Premier League so far while Leeds United have nine (9) points from nine (9) matches.
With England international James Maddison out of the Leeds United match due to injury, Rodgers has confirmed that Iheanacho is set to play a part in the upcoming clash with Leeds United.
Rodgers revealed in his pre-match press conference as reported by Leicester Mercury: "We have a number of players who can play that position. Kels can come in and do that role. Dennis Praet can play that position well.
"I think it’s whether Kels starts or comes off the bench, he looks to make a contribution. What I know with Kels is he gives everything."
The British manager went ahead to praise Iheanacho for always having a positive impact on the game whenever he gets the chance to play for Leicester City.
“He came into the game [against Palace] and was effective in the game. That’s all we want from the guys off the bench. Can they make an impact?" Rodgers posited.
"He did that, he had a couple of runs and a couple of moves within the game. If he starts or if he comes into the game, he can make an impact.”
Iheanacho has made three consecutive appearances for Leicester City (against Tottenham Hotspur, Bournemouth, and Crystal Palace) since he scored on his first league start of the season in a 5-2 defeat away at Brighton and Hove Albion.
