The Old Lady have received a 15-point deduction in Serie A after they were found guilty of financial irregularities.
It has been a dramatic last few hours in Serie A after Juventus were punished for financial irregularities.
The Old Lady were docked 15 points in the league by the FIGC (Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio.) after an Italian football court found them guilty of financial irregularities and false accounting.
What happened to Juventus ?
Juventus and other Italian clubs were accused of falsifying profits made from previous transfer deals. Initially, all the clubs were acquitted from all the charges, but prosecutors asked the court to reopen Juventus’ case after they found new evidence.

The Old Lady also claimed to have saved €90 million during the pandemic year after players decided to take a four-month wage cut. However, prosecutors claimed the players only accepted a one-month reduction in salary.
Following these findings, the court decided to punish Juventus by handing the side a 15-point deduction in the league while some of the former club officials were banned.
Ex-president Andrea Agnelli was handed a 16-month ban while vice-president Pavel Nedved received an eight-month ban. Juventus former football chief, who is now Tottenham Hotspur sporting director received the biggest punishment as he was banned for 30 months.

But while Juventus are set to suffer the punishment that has been handed out, other clubs will get to benefit from their misery. Before Juventus’ points were, they were sitting in third place with 38 points, four points ahead of the fifth to seventh-placed sides.
However, following their 15-point deduction, they drop out of the Champions League spot to tenth on the table. It means a couple of clubs will benefit from their drop.
Which clubs will benefit from Juventus' woes?
Roma
Roma are the biggest winners from the decision as it opens up a chance for Champions League qualification. Although Roma would have still been in contention even without Juventus’ points deduction, the decision has increased their chances.

Jose Mourinho’s were four points behind Juventus before and three behind Inter Milan in fourth place. But Juventus’ point deduction means Roma are now level on points with Lazio, who occupy fourth place, and four behind second-place AC Milan.
While it does not guarantee anything, Roma will feel confident in their chances of beating Atalanta and Lazio to the final Champions League spot.
Atalanta
Like Roma, Atalanta were also behind Juventus in the race to qualify for the Champions League. But they are now joint-fourth with Lazio as a result of the decision.

It has not been a good season for La Dea, but they seem to have picked up form in recent games. With just four points separating second and sixth, Atalanta will hope to take advantage of Juventus’ drop.
Lazio
Roma’s city rivals Lazio also fall in the same boat. Before Juventus were docked 15 points, Lazio were in fifth place, four points behind the Old Lady.

However, following the decision, Lazio moved to fourth place, three points behind Inter Milan. It means if they maintain their grip, they will return to the Champions League next season.
