With Galatasaray on the march towards another Super Lig title. their closest contenders Fenerbahce sought a vital win to keep the title race alive as they travelled to Alanyaspor.
The away side suffered an early setback as they were forced to replace Sofyan Amrabat in the 12th minute after an injury blow.
Despite the loss of Amrabat, Fenerbahce took the lead inside the opening half-hour with Sebastian Szymanski opening the scoring against Alanyaspor.
Fenerbahce's January signing Talisca doubled the lead just before half-time with a superb header from a Filip Kostic cross to put his side 2-0 up.
The Canaries held on for the win away from home and are now withing three points of leaders Galatasaray, who will play Adana DS later on Sunday.
