Fenerbahce came from behind to defeat Trabzonspor and move within touching distance of Galatasaray.

Fenerbahce emphatically responded to their cup exit against Galatasaray, beating Trabzonspor 4-1 to cut their deficit from Cim-Bom to a mere three points.

The Yellow Canaries had to come from behind to clinch this statement victory, as they initially conceded the opener just before half-time.

The introduction of Andersson Talisca at the start of the second-half proved a catalyst, as the Brazilian came on to score a hattrick. Milan Škriniar also scored in the half, as Jose Mourinho's side ran away 4-1 winners at the Sukru Saracoglou stadium.

Yesterday, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) announced a three-game suspension for Mourinho after the Fenerbahce coach appeared to have pulled the nose of Okan Buruk, Galatasaray, following their cup game.

And while the hosts had a slow start, the off-pitch issues did not prevent them from collecting maximum points. Romanian forward Denis Dragus scored the first goal of the game, silencing the home crowd just on the stroke of half-time.

Former Al Nassr winger Talisca was introduced upon resumption from the break and scored only six minutes in, converting a penalty after Super Eagles' Bright Osayi Samuel was fouled in the box.

Milan Skriniar doubled the advantage on the hour mark, and Talisca combined with another former Saudi Pro League star, Alan Saint-Maximin, four minutes later to give Fenerbahce a two-goal advantage.

Talisca completed his hattrick in the 71st minute with a brilliant strike from the edge of the box, which curled past Ugurcan Cakir and nestled at the back of the net.

With the victory, the Yellow Canaries move to 68 points, three behind league leaders Galatasaray, sparking a frenetic end to the Super Lig season, with the contest expected to go down to the wire.
