The winning goal for Milan over Inter by Gabbia was the first time the Milan derby was settled in favour of the Rossoneri that late this century.
The last time a decider was scored that late for the Rossoneri in the Milan derby was in October 1999, when Liberian Ballon d’Or winner George Weah struck an 89th-minute winner against Inter.

After a run of one win in their opening five matches of the season, Milan will be hoping that the record breaking win is the turning point for their 2024/25 campaign, which has been underwhelming so far.
