His return to Maroons FC was commemorated with a goalless draw against Vipers SC in a pre-season friendly, setting the stage for the season ahead.

Former KCCA defender Dennis Rukundo has completed his return to boyhood club Maroons FC, Pulse Sports understands.

Rukundo's return to Maroons comes after he left Rwanda's AS Kigali at the end of his two-year employment contract, rendering him a free agent.

He has inked a six-month contract with the Prison Warders, according to Swift Sports, rekindling his connection with the club where he began his senior team career.

His return to Maroons FC was commemorated with a goalless draw against Vipers SC in a pre-season friendly, setting the stage for the season ahead.

Under the guidance of coach Muhammad Senfuma, the team is gearing up for a fresh season campaign as they look to build on their incredible sixth place finish last season.

Maroons will commence their campaign with an away duel against Wakiso Giants on Sunday, September 17th.

Born to a Rwandan father and a Ugandan mother, Rukundo holds dual nationality and has proudly represented the Rwanda national team, making his debut against Central African Republic in International Friendly in June 2021.

His style of play as a roving right back have garnered attention both at home and abroad.

The defender embarked on his senior career with Maroons before making a high-profile move to KCCA in 2016.

His time at the MTN Omondi Stadium marked a significant phase in his career, as he honed his abilities and gained valuable experience under Mike Mutebi.

Rukundo then moved across the border, joining Rwandan giants APR FC, before returning to Uganda for a two-year excursion with Police FC, before joining AS Kigali in 2021.

The transfer window has been active for Maroons FC, with notable signings like Hannington Ssebwalunyo, Jackson Nunda, Baden Mujahid, and Derrick Emukule joining the ranks.

Pulse Sports Uganda has compiled the full list of the ins and outs at the Luzira based Maroons FC, and who are expected to be the standout performers for the club this season.

Maroons confirmed the departure of three players in July, including the best goalkeeper of last season, Simon Tamale, who had signed with Rayon Sport as a free agent.
