Africa is going through it at the ninth FIFAWWC after Morocco became its latest representative to suffer humiliation in the competition against Germany.
Things are not going Africa’s way at the ninth edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, FIFAWWC, after Morocco became the latest side to suffer humiliation.
One of two debutants from Africa, Morocco, made it back-to-back baptism of fire following a 6-goal thriller against European giants Germany.
The Germans proved just too ruthless after a 6-0 win against the Atlas Lionesses in their opening Group H encounter.
Popp steals shows vs Morocco
Superstar striker Alexandra Popp was the star of the show as the Moroccans struggled to handle her throughout her time on the pitch.
Popp netted a first half brace to inspire her country to a dominant and comprehensive start to the tournament in New Zealand and Australia.
Germany added three more goals in the second half before taking off their star Popp, who was replaced by Laura Freigang in the 83rd minute of the game.
Lea Schuller came off the bench to add a sixth goal in added time in a game that could have seen the Germans score more goals.
